    How To Grow Your Real Estate Business (The Hard Way) 25 Fun Facts about Sellstate's president, Neil Cresswell 1. I grew up in small mining town in Northern Ontario Canada. 2. Father was an electrician in the nickel mines. Mother was a special education teacher 3. Summers were spent at a cottage on small northern lake fishing and water skiing daily. 4. I started various businesses as a young boy from retrieving old bicycles from local dump fixing and selling to managing a very large paper route at 11 years old....I hired other kids to deliver over 300 newspapers daily! 5. I have twins, a boy and a girl. My daughter Kelsey is a nurse and my son Taylor is a Realtor who is doing exceptionally well and opening his first brokerage now. 6. Was in a high school rock band. We entertained the local children and adults alike at our daily garage concert. I sang and played guitar. 7. When I was 16 while achieving straight A’s in school I managed 3 jobs from a cook at the Ponderosa Steak House, night attendant at all night gas bar, and weekend construction helper. I never slept much. 8. First car at 16 was a 1968 Mustang Fastback. Put all my savings into it and loved every mile. 9. Continued my passion for cars from muscle cars to eventually owning a Ferrari. Hated the Ferrari as it was always breaking and expensive to repair!!! 10. Developed a passion for fitness at age 16 and eventually owned 3 health clubs in Canada. I still work out most every day. 11. Out of high school got a job in the mines as a Millwright. Worked in the mines till age 26 (when I quit to start selling real estate). 12. While working in mines I invested into rehabs and eventually earned far more rehabbing homes then working full time in mines. This is what gave me the motivation to leave the mines. 13. TURNING POINT. When I quit the mines, everyone told me if it never worked out being in real estate....I could always go back to be a mechanic. I literally burned all my mechanic documentation in the parking lot the day I left the mines symbolizing I did not want an option to return. 14. Before I sold my first home I studied the 5 top trainers in North America for 6 months mastering presentations, scripts marketing and business development. In my mind I was convinced I was not a real estate agent but creating a new business model for the real estate industry. I quickly became one of the nation’s highest producing agents. 15. As a Realtor I began two construction companies and owned many apartment buildings as well as building the highest producing real estate brokerage in my city. My office did over 50% of all MLS sales. 16. At age 30 I was offered to be a regional owner of one of Canada's largest real estate companies. 17. I was part of the growth of Canada's 2nd largest real estate company, Sutton Group, where I helped many brokers grow their brokerages. 18. TURNING POINT. In 2000 I sold everything I owned and moved to Florida to start all over again, building Sellstate Realty from the ground up. 19. I have had the same business partner for over 25 years, Art Darmanin. We are co-owners of Sellstate Realty Systems. Art has been in the business for over 40 years. 20. I have a passion for public speaking. 21. I love reading and working on personal growth. 22. I have personal growth coaches and mentors. 23. My wife Stephanie is a Realtor as well! She is German and moved here the same time I did. 24. I am over the moon happy as I had my first grandchild just born. Her name is Mila and it gives an entirely new meaning to life. 25. My first passion besides boating is travel.
