THREE PERSONS ARRESTED EARLY SATURDAY AFTER BREAKING CURFEW Three persons were taken to the Chalk Sound Police Station and arrested for breaching curfew under the Emergency Powers COVID19 Regulations 2020, early morning on Saturday, April 11th, 2020. According to reports, a 25-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man were arrested at 12:43 a.m. They were given bail in the sum of US$1000.00 each and later released. Both are scheduled to return to the Chalk Sound Police Station on Monday, May 25th, 2020 to be further dealt with. Officers also arrested a 19-year-old man at 1:12 a.m. He was also taken to the Chalk Sound Police Station where he was given US$1000.00 bail and released. He is to return to the Chalk Sound Police Station on Monday, May 25th, 2020 to be further dealt with. Two vehicles were confiscated. There were no reports of Arrests in the sister Islands. The public is reminded that breaking curfew is a Criminal Offence and subject to a fine or time in prison or both. 8 RECRUIT CONSTABLES STUDYING IN BARBADOS RETURNS HOME The 8 recruit constables, namely Jherry Seide, Sinartra Handfield, Janefer Stubbs, Marc Kendy Charles, Shavern Ingham, Stanley Been, Isaac Isreal and Marvin Rolle have returned home today, Saturday, May 9, 2020, after completing almost six months of studying a Police Training Certification Program which was jointly designed by the Regional Police Training Centre in Barbados and the Barbados Community College. The Recruit Constables who have returned to the Turks and Caicos Islands two weeks ahead of schedule will finalize their studies on Providenciales. Commissioner of Police, Trevor Botting said, “We are proud to have these Officers back home. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we had to bring them home two weeks earlier. Staff development will always be important to us and we are looking forward to having these Officers in the field once they have completed the remainder of their course, which will be facilitated by our Training Department and the Regional Police Training Centre. The final stages of the course will take approximately one week to complete. Certificates of Completion will be issued by the Regional Police Training Centre in Barbados and a passing out Ceremony will take place in the TCI to be arranged at a later date”. Commissioner Botting added, “I would also like to congratulate this batch of recruits constables for their tremendous work throughout the Program. They have done extremely well representing the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force and the Turks and Caicos at large. I would also like to also congratulate Sergeant Kevin Clarke who was the local instructor assigned to our recruits in Barbados. Thank you, for your dedication to this program and the sacrifices you have made. The Recruit Constables and Sergeant Kevin Clark arrived today at 3:10 p.m. onboard a United Kingdom Military Aircraft and was immediately placed into quarantine for 14 days. The final stages of the training will commence post quarantine.

Headline: MAN CHARGED FOR FEBRUARY 2ND AGGRAVATED BURGLARY ON GRAND TURK On Tuesday, April 28th, 2020, 32-year-old Trevon Saunders was formally charged for the Offence of Aggravated Burglary. Saunders was charged in connection to a report made to the Grand Turk Police Station on Sunday, February 2nd, 2020. The facts are that a 27-year-old woman reported that a man armed with a knife entered her home and demanded money. Police Officers on Grand Turk responded, and Saunders was later arrested on February 3rd, 2020. Saunders is currently bailed at US$5000.00 and is scheduled back to Court on June 5th, 2020. MEN ARRESTED ON CURFEW BREACH AND CARRYING AMMUNITION On Tuesday, April 28th, 2020, whilst on patrol and carrying checks along Pond Street, Grand Turk, Officers stopped a blue coloured Nissan March during the night curfew. A stop search was carried out and one round of ammunition was found. 23-year-old Travonte Mohammed, 24-year-old Niquel Missick and 23-year-old Jayson Smith were arrested for Carrying Ammunition and Charged for Breaching Curfew. The men are scheduled to answer to the Breach of Curfew charge next week, while the Carrying Ammunition Arrest is still under investigation. TWO MEN ARRESTED AND CHARGED FOR SOUTH BASE RESTAURANT BURGLARY Two men, a 24-year-old and a 31-year-old are in Police Custody in connection to a Burglary of a Restaurant on Grand Turk on Sunday, April 26th, 2020. According to reports, the two culprits entered the South Base Restaurant and stole two coolers of fish and meat products. Both men were charged with Burglary and will appear in the Magistrate 's Court on Wednesday, May 6th, 2020. Some of the products were recovered and seized following the execution of a search warrant.
