Headline: Bavarian Beer queen guest of Honour at Windhoek Oktoberfest

A few hours before the start of the 61st Windhoek Oktoberfest on Friday 25th October 2019, this year’s guest of Honour, the Bavarian beer queen, Vroni Ettstaller, landed in Windhoek coming from Munich in Germany.
Windhoek mayor, Muesee Kazapua, officially opened the Oktoberfest Festbeer barrel Friday evening and enjoyed the special brewed Windhoek beer with the organisers and the CEO of Namibia Breweries, Marco Wenk.
Again two top bands, the Kirchdorfer from Germany and the Broers from South Africa, made sure that there was an excellent atmosphere and music from late afternoon till after midnight at the grounds of the Sport Klub Windhoek in the southern part of the city. This year the Jägermeister Brass Cartel, who had been at the Windhoek Carneval already, were part of the programme at the Windhoek Oktoberfest, which is the biggest in Africa. Brew master Christian Müller announced that the Festbeer had around 5,9 to 6,0 percent alcohol, a perfect level for this type of special beer.
This year again more and more people from all different Namibian cultural groups came in the traditional Bavarian outfits, the ladies in beautiful “Dirndl” dresses and the men in “Lederhosen”, pants made from leather. Not only Namibians from all cultural groups and different towns were celebrating peacefully together, but a number of tourists from all over the world took part in this unique festival in an African country.
The crowd enjoyed the traditional Bavarian dance by the “Schuhplattler” and danced to the music of the different bands till midnight.
