To be honest, I have never struggled with the idea that we have a loving Heavenly Father who works miracles. However, Saturday night we witnessed something that continues to blow me away. I am going to be transparent as I describe Saturday evening. The build-up is a little long but important to understand our mindset and how that mindset was turned quickly away from an internal focus for our own benefit and to Marie Davidson and her two boys Tavin and Noah. This story gives me such an assurance that we are all watched over. We have been working like maniacs to build this amazing home for this incredible family, the Poulsons. We knew that we wanted to be in the parade but the calendar was not on our side. Setting this as the goal we experienced a real comradery amongst all of our team and our trade partners and their teams along with the Poulson Family. We knew that we only had 5 months to build this 10k sf home in order to make the Parade. We knew it would be stressful but everyone rose to the occasion, knowing that this was an incredible marketing opportunity for us as a relatively new brand. We decided that social media was going to play a critical role in building our brand and promoting ourselves. We thought that we had a real shot at winning the people's choice award, which is a nice award to receive. So we decided on a two prong strategy: Create a raffle for the 82" Television that we had displayed on the wall. This would allow us to gather the contact information of those that came to see the home. The second part of the strategy was to give everyone a crumbl cookie with a "Thank you for your Vote" message. Because we had so many people's information we were able to remind them to vote and invite them to our social media channels. Now, I believe that a professional marketer would say, that's a good strategy. I have to say that serendipity took over and our hearts were touched and turned from an internal focus to an external focus like never before. Saturday night brought the last hours of the 2020 parade. It was time for us to have the raffle. We had Jaynee Poulson do the honors of pulling the name. The rules were, you had to be able to pick up the phone when we called in order to win. The first name Jaynee pulled out had a name but no phone number. So she pulled another one. Marie Davidson. I won't write about the reaction. Watch it on the video. Now the rest of the story. Marie and her husband had purchased Parade of Homes tickets weeks before the show started. They were looking forward to going to the parade. They have a cute little home in downtown Ogden that they were getting fixed up so that they could sell and move up to a home to accommodate their growing family. They had had a flood in the basement that a small contractor, referred by the insurance company, had stiffed them on the repair. Just as the parade of homes was about to start, Marie and her husband were working on their tile back splash. They had had a great day getting things done. Then tragedy struck. Sometimes it's hard to make sense of things. Marie, Tavin and Noah lost their husband and father. In a mindless instant, the trajectory of their lives changed.
