[IT’S TRUE] Shopify is Easier than You Think - Skip Niche Stores & Steal My Proven Formula If You Want To Live On Your Terms Ok, I’ll admit it’s embarrassing. My Shopify store looks like a teenager's bedroom. But I ain’t embarrassed about my store's SALES. Hey there, my name is Adrian Morrison and I have one of the most successful “print-on-demand” Shopify stores of all time. In fact, some of the methods I used to grow the store were so revolutionary that Shopify featured me as a case study on their website. I get asked to critique A LOT of store because of this and I see these 2 huge mistakes that are almost always the reason why the store is failing. 1 – Trying to Launch a “Brand" You think your store is cool (it’s not). You think your brand is the next Nike//Supreme (it’s not). You send product to influencers for a shoutout (they don’t) I fell into this trap too at first. I had a great brand idea and it launched to crickets and 0 sales. What I learned is that it doesn’t matter what you like… …it matters is what everyone else likes. Here is the truth, nobody cares what you think is a great idea. They don’t care what product you think is great. Remember this, you are a marketer...not a consumer. If this is your 1st try at a store and you're trying to market what you’re passionate about...you will most likely end up losing money. You are not selling to yourself, you are selling to everyone else. Your new goal: Find out what everyone else is passionate about and profit off the trend. Once you understand this. It will open up Pandora’s box of possibilities for your business & you’ll be much more likely to have a successful business. 2 – Focus I recently saw another guy that does e-commerce selling a system. He had created some platform that allows you to click one button and populate your e-commerce store with 1,000 pre-selected products! ... Sounds great, right? Putting 1,000 products on my e-commerce store sounds like a bloody nightmare! People often confuse quantity with success. Not true at all. Who said these 1,000 crappy products are what everyone wants right now? Yay, you can sell a bunch of the same crap that everyone else in the world is trying to peddle. It’s way better to sell thousands of a few items than sell a few items from a store with thousands. I’ve mastered the “Less = More” strategy. And this requires focus. One of the biggest misconceptions about e-commerce is that you have to have a bunch of junk in your store. When, in fact, you only need a few really great and unique products on your store to be mega successful. It’s actually bad to have a bunch of junk in your store. Too many options for customers and too much headache for you. There is a phenomena called choice paralysis, which basically states that when the brain is presented with too many choices, it will choose to not make a decision rather than anything at all. This is why you see people with these “great big stores” with a 1,000 products on there that are broke. Because it’s not focused. The secret: Focus on converting the customer on the product you are advertising. Don’t bombard them with a thousand choices once they hit your store. Focus on getting them to hit the “buy it now” button and make the purchase, that is how you make money. Anything else you hear is hype. Did either of two mistakes hit to close to home? It doesn’t have to be this hard. Literally ... I’m selling a boatload of a few single items. They are hot, they are unique, they are something you don’t see everywhere else.
