I will never forget this New Year's Eve. I was very busy in kitchen. After finishing a few big tables of dishes, I was so tired that my waist and back were so sore, and I was just ready to rest for a while. My mother-in-law suddenly asked me to add some more dishes, especially told me not to put pepper in, and let me use less oil. I was quite confused. I knew the taste of my family very well. They all like hot and spicy food. Why did she suddenly ask me to cook such light dishes? "Is there an outsider coming to celebrate the Spring Festival with us?" I had some doubts, but I didn't dare to ask anything more. After all, my mother-in-law had always been very dissatisfied with me. I didn't want to make her unhappy on New Year's Eve. "Madame, young master said that he might come back later. On the way back from the airport, there is a traffic jam." Just as I walked to the kitchen, the housekeeper said to my mother-in-law. Hearing this, I muttered in my heart. The young master mentioned by the housekeeper was my husband, Edward Xi. His company was located in the downtown area. Why did he go to the airport? I knew nothing about why he went to the airport. Although we had been married for seven years, we rarely met, so he had never told me about his whereabouts. As for the reason why I married into the Xis family, that's all because of my father. My father was once the driver of Edward's grandfather. In an accident, he sacrificed himself to save Gramps Xi. The only wish of my father was that he hoped I could have a happy life after he left. Gramps Xi decided to let me be his granddaughter-in-law on the spot. That meant Edward Xi's wife! So after the funeral, I married into the Xis. At that time, I felt that I was the happiest woman in the world. Because my father was the driver of the Xis, I often went to Xi's family when I was a child. Since I first saw Edward, he had covered each inch of my heart. Fifteen years passed in a flash. I had loved Edward Xi for 15 years and had been his wife for seven years. However, I knew that I had never entered his heart. But no matter how he treated me, I still kept being a good wife, hoping that one day, he could change his attitude toward me. When I heard that he was coming back soon, my heart was full of joy and so happy that I seemed not that tired when cooked. "Young Master had parked the car. Madame let me ask you how the dishes are cooking." While I was busy cooking, the housekeeper came over and informed me. The housekeeper's tone was cold, as if in his eyes I was not the young mistress. At best I was a servant whose status was even a little lower than him. There was no other servant in this large villa. I was the young mistress, but I was in charge of all household chores. But I had no complaints. The Xis let me marry Edward. For me, I was satisfied. And these jobs were what a wife should do. But sometimes I also smiled bitterly. If it weren't a villa, I would have done less. I brought the last dish onto the table. Edward Xi had not returned yet. I heaved a sigh of relief and quickly took off my apron. I was about to take a shower, change my clothes, and then put on makeup. I was covered in a smell of smoke and sweat. And I didn't want to appear in front of him like this. Just when I was about to enter my bedroom, my mother-in-law began to call people to eat. For a moment, relatives and friends scattered all over the villa came over. The Xis was a big family, and people gathered here were just only a small part of this family. But these cousins, aunties, and even uncles were enough to fill up three tables when they gathered together. I was secretly glad that it was not my grandfather's home. Otherwise, I would be too busy to finish the meal of my family. My mother-in-law told us to begin to eat, which made me very depressed because this meant that Edward had arrived and there was no time for me to dress up. In an instant, I was so anxious that I wanted to cry. As my eyes passed through the living room, a tall figure appeared at the door. His arrival brought a trace of coldness to the

“I wanted to develop a better relationship with alcohol so decided to set myself a challenge and sign up for 90 days alcohol-free. I am a member of a Boot Camp near where I live and have found a great love of fitness but often derailed myself at weekends with wine followed by rubbish food after. Even though I did lots of classes and my nutrition was great from Monday – Thursday, I completely destroyed all my good work each weekend. It always left me feeling tired and run down, bearing in mind I have 4 children (3 part-time) to look after, life is busy, and I felt constantly tired and stressed. Meeting my husband in 2015 who rarely drinks really made me look at my own drinking habits. I have suffered a lot of loss over the years and have used alcohol as a crutch when feeling upset. Some people reach for chocolate. I reached for the wine. It instantly calms you down but actually just exasperates the problem. I desperately wanted to change my drinking habits from a ‘bottle of wine kind of girl’ to ‘have a glass of wine enjoy it and leave it be’. I signed up to this challenge wholeheartedly. I reached the 60-70-day mark easily but then life got in the way. Holidays or breaks away crept in so I reset a couple of times. I have found reading other people’s experiences and seeing their progress very inspirational. I finally decided on the day before my 37th birthday I was going to crack the 90-days and beyond. I would like to continue and reach my 365-day milestone. So much has improved since going alcohol-free. I have gone alcohol-free through all the Christmas parties, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, a fitness weekend away with the Boot Camp girls and a weekend away on a cruise with my husband. This Christmas was the first Christmas that I have returned to work feeling like I have actually had a rest. I felt revived and raring to go. My quality of sleep has dramatically improved and my skin feels great. I am really enjoying getting fitter too. I have the motivation to be productive at the weekends, doing all those little jobs that I have been putting off. I often see how other people spend their weekends, drinking it away. I don’t even think about alcohol at all. The general support of the group has been fantastic. People are all together with a common goal of trying to achieve whatever they want. Some people don’t wish to drink again, others like myself are just trying to improve their relationship with alcohol. I have loved my daily email, it’s been really helpful in focusing my mind first thing in the morning. I am going to stick it out for a year and see where this journey takes me.” - Alexandra If you want to join Alexandra in taking that first step to transforming your relationship with alcohol and watch your entire life transform around you, you can apply to join our exclusive 28, 90 or 365 Day Challenges.
