What did Johnson & Johnson know and when did they know it? The pharmaceutical behemoth claims its talcum powder products are safe, but evidence suggests the contrary. - During a 2017 lawsuit against J&J, unsealed documents from the 1970s surfaced, suggesting that the company knew asbestos was in their talc supply. - An internal J&J report from 1973 acknowledged the presence of two types of asbestos in talc from the company’s Windsor mine in Vermont. In the report, a J&J official suggested switching to cornstarch instead of talc in their baby powder. A 1974 document indicates the director of research and development at the Windsor mine was aware of asbestos contamination in the talc being mined at the location (www.asbestos.net).
