Don't expect to make fast progress in your business. Working beside one of the most efficient sales teams in tech world bringing in 8 figures a year... I observed what a winning system looks like. And I've been applying it to my content marketing approach. First, you start with an annual revenue goal (eg: $1 million). Second, you determine what the conversion rate is from a sales call to a closed sale (eg: 30%). Third, based on your average sale price (eg: $1000), you determine how many sales calls you need to book to hit the goal. Here's how the annual #'s might look: Revenue goal (annual): $1,200,000 Sales calls: 4,000 Conversion rate: 30% Closed sales: 1,200 You don't just stop at the annual #'s though. You break this down into monthly goals, then daily action items. Here's how the monthly #'s might look: Revenue goal (monthly): $100,000 Sales calls: 333 Conversion rate: 30% Closed sales: 100 To get 333 sales calls you now need to determine what activity(s) will lead to hitting that goal. In sales teams, this is often # of outreach emails sent. Let's say 5% of emails sent convert to a sales call. That means you need to send 6,660 emails to land 333 sales demos. (6,600 x 0.05 = 333). If one month has 20 working days on average... You now know you need to send ~330 emails per day to hit your $1.2 million revenue target. 330 emails per day now becomes your ONE PROACTIVE METRIC (aka your revenue generating activity). It's a metric that's CONTROLLABLE. Now you need to work out how many people you need on your team to achieve this. You work out to hit those numbers you'll need 3 SDRs (sales development representatives) to send 110 emails per day for 20 working days per month. And to do 333 sales calls per month (16/day), you'll need 3 sales reps doing 6 calls per day, every hour on the hour with 2 one hour breaks each day, for 5 days a week. Now you have a system built around a team to hit a goal: 1- 3 SDRs need to send 110 emails per day each 2- 3 sales reps need to do 6 sales calls per day each The result = $1,200,000 revenue. You may think this is overly simplified, and in real-life not everything always goes to plan. That's true. People get sick, team members leave, you don't always hit your expected conversion rate. BUT you account for that in your planning. Add 10% onto your daily activities. I'm yet to see an 8-figure business who's daily activity metrics are: - Number of emails checked inside Gmail - Number of posts checked on Facebook Those are MAINTENANCE TASKS. Allocate half a day a week for them, or do them in the final hour of your day. You need to find your #1 daily revenue generating activity and focus on it. “I first experimented with alcohol at age 13 or 14. In my teens and early 20’s drinking normally took place at the weekends. Sundays were spent in a heap on the couch watching TV and praying for the headache to go away. I’ve always loved a good party, always wanted to be part of the celebration. I lived for drinking games, shots and afterparties. It was how I started to define myself; “partygoer, loves a good night out, always up for a laugh”. But somewhere down the line, the stumbles, embarrassing stories and drinking until the next morning started to get old and somehow didn’t seem as funny as it once was in my early 20’s. Three years ago my mum passed away quite suddenly. I was 27 years old. Although she had been chronically ill for well over ten years, her death was totally unexpected. We did not have a typical mother-daughter relationship, although we loved each other fiercely, we fought all the time. We were both stubborn, quick-tempered and loved to get the last word in. Our fractured relationship got worse when I moved to Australia for a year. But when I returned home I made it my priority to mend old wounds and re-build a connection with her. So we started to make it a habit to ring each other weekly, but I missed her call one Saturday evening as I was out with friends. On Sunday I was too hungover to call her back, I just kept thinking I’ll ring her tomorrow when I don’t feel so terrible. But I never got to make that last phone call. After she died, my drinking habits didn’t drastically change but my mindset had totally shifted. When I went out to drink, I really drank. There was no off switch and no stopping me. I was trying cover up how miserable I felt inside, to fill the emptiness and to find some distraction. As this went on not only were my hangovers getting worse but I started to become crippled with anxiety. “What had I said? What did I do? Why did I drink so much?” thoughts like this played on repeat in my head for days after the actual night out. The next day I couldn’t even answer the phone or join in on the group texts for fear of finding out if I did something mortifying again. Because, when I was drunk I became a talker. I was always speaking without thinking and often hurting those around me especially my boyfriend. What seemed funny when I was inebriated was often crass and cruel when I was sober. On my 29th birthday I decided that I was going to give up drinking for awhile. It took 6 months for that plan to take fruition. At this point I was so unhappy with myself, I had gained weight, lost confidence, stopped exercising consistently and felt totally lost. When an ad for OYNB popped up on my social media it didn’t take long for me to sign up. This was exactly what I was looking for! I dived right in and got amongst the quit lit, the podcasts and the members group. These avenues provided me with so much support, comfort and encouragement every single day. To know there are so many other people out there with a story like mine or who have felt the same way as I have is truly amazing. "Our son, Casyn is 6 months old. We received his Owlet Smart Sock about 2 weeks after he was born and he has worn it every night since we received it. This past week, Casyn became ill and was coughing and experiencing chest congestion. We took him to the doctor, where he was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. He was given antibiotics and then we were sent home. About 4 days into his antibiotic, I noticed Casyn’s symptoms were changing. His cough sounded different, his breathing was different, and his chest seemed tight. We took him back to the doctor but they said he sounded great and there were no concerns, he was just on the tail end of his illness. That night, Casyn started wheezing so we took him to the emergency room. Again, Casyn checked out okay after a breathing treatment and we were sent home. The next day, I went to work while Casyn’s dad was home with him. We decided it would be best to keep his Smart Sock on because his oxygen levels were reading in the low 90’s, high 80’s which isn’t typical for an infant. I monitored the Owlet app closely on my phone all day to help keep an eye on Casyn and he “seemed okay” but still wasn’t acting himself.
