Home for Stray Dogs ❤️ . The proposed home for stray dogs was designed with the intent of turning the tables on the current conditions of dog shelters in our community. Dark, cramped, and usually hidden away from the public eye; the current condition of animal shelters in our community simply reflect the distorted views that most people perceive of stray dogs and animal adoption. Whereas its opposing forces; light, open, and welcoming, is what the designers wanted to emphasize in the design process of this structure. . The team wanted to deviate away from long narrow hallways and rigid lines, and took inspiration from dogs and their body language. Such as the looped kennel building that wraps around the interior court, much like when a dog tries to assess his new playmate and circles around it. People walk along the dog kennels, instead of walking towards them head-on, making their approach less confrontational and creates a positive interaction for the dogs, which is important in their rehabilitation. . The designers wanted to create a space for both humans and dogs that values the importance of visual proximity as it helps build the bond and familiarity between the two. Hence, the circular and organic form that instigates movement and connection from one area to another. The flexible environment of the open spaces, wherein different activities can be done simultaneously within the interior and exterior of the dog kennel floors, is key to the social interaction between these stray dogs. . The importance of familiarity is emphasized in its design, since the connection of spaces and their links play a huge role in the social interaction between man and dog. All in all, the goal was to create a space that encourages the public to interact with dogs in a natural yet controlled setting. . . Design: JAS Christine Marie B. Rescue Revolution of Mississippi
The Raw, Ugly, Reality of Animal Rescue This post is hard to even compose, due to the great sense of despair and hopelessness we are feeling right now. We are wondering if the rescue we have worked so hard to build for almost 7 years will be able to continue. We are buried. Buried so deep in boarding debt and medical expenses that we don’t know where else to turn at this point. Since we lost our kennel in June, we were forced to board all of our dogs. Our September boarding bill was the highest we have ever seen in our lives, $4,200. That’s not even for any medical care. Just one month of boarding. We have 17 sweet babies behind bars right now in boarding. Yes, it’s better than on the streets, but it’s not doing them any good on their road to recovery and adoption, being in a cage instead of in a foster home. We have 67 dogs in our rescue right now. All sizes, breeds, and ages. Most are in foster homes, and we are beyond grateful for those families who opened their homes to our rescue pups. Transports up north are not as frequent now, and many of our dogs are waiting on us to raise funds to be treated for heartworm disease. This will cost us $350 per dog. We have ten dogs waiting to be treated. Waiting on us to raise the funds to get them the life saving treatment they need. This expense totals $3500 to treat all 10 dogs for heartworms. Will you please consider sponsoring a heartworm treatment or monthly boarding fee for one of the Rescue Revolution dogs today, so we can continue to save dogs in our community? We have to raise $4,200 to pay our boarding bill for September, and $3,500 to treat 10 dogs for heartworms. Total needing to be raised is $7,700. This amount seems so out of reach. Please help us and the animals see there is hope in you, the people in our community. Please consider making a tax deductible donation today. We are so grateful for your continued support of Rescue Revolution of Mississippi. Much ❤️, Kelly & Hart Ways to donate: -Through Facebook via th
