I’ve struggled with anxiety and panic attacks since 2017. -- Freedom from Anxiety at Last The Story of a proud Mom and her Hypnotherapist -- A 5 Minute Read This is Jade, a 39 year old proud Mom of two who came to my office in June of 2018 as a last resort to deal with her anxiety. Unfortunately, hypnotherapy is usually seen as just that… A last resort. It is my hope that sharing stories such as Jade’s will allow hypnotherapy to become a first response. It was the usual story… medication, regular panic attacks, constant psychologist visits and a sense of overwhelm. Jade had a full-blown panic attack on sitting in my office, her neck locked up and she was hyperventilating. Logically, she knew she was safe in that moment, but a part of her was telling her otherwise... Upon calming down and after a bit of reassurance, I asked Jade how long she had suffered from anxiety. “All my life”… The first time she remembered feeling anxious was at 18 years old; a family incident resulted in the same nervous feeling in her body and an overall feeling of being unsafe. There is a saying in society that goes, "time heals all wounds". Unfortunately this is only true at a conscious level… The conscious mind knows that smoking is bad for you, excessive chocolate is not a great idea and that you don’t need that extra glass of wine - but the logical, conscious mind represents only 10% of our awareness. Our subconscious mind represents 90% of our awareness, it is an incredibly powerful storehouse of information where all of our habits, patterns, behaviours and memories reside. Our logical, conscious mind has no control over our emotions; it’s left to our child-like subconscious mind (the 90%). The biggest role of our subconscious mind is to keep us safe and to ensure our survival. It thinks that we need our symptoms like anxiety or depression as coping mechanisms or something worse may happen - in essence our symptoms are there to protect us. The conscious mind loves the concept of time… Linear time. Say you’re 40 today, you were born 40 years ago and if a trauma (be it your parent’s divorce, crime, bullying, abuse) happens at age 10, society says “time heals all wounds” or “it’s time to get over it”. The problem (and blessing) is, in the subconscious mind, there is no time, there's only energy. Every sight, smell, sound, feeling and experience has left an impression that has been anchored in your subconscious. That imprint could be a result of an event (something that happened), a belief (what was believed at the time of the event) or a feeling (the feeling that the event evoked). Once Jade had entered the relaxed state of hypnosis, I gave her the suggestion to go back to the very first time she ever felt the same anxious feeling in her body to take her to the root cause of her anxiety. Jade went back to a memory long forgotten from when she was 4 years old. She was standing in front of a male family member who mocked the freckles on her nose, calling her “fly-**** nose”. This interaction had been suppressed for 35 years and her emotional release from remembering it was enormous. The reality is that Jade's subconscious was stuck with the feeling she first felt at Age 4 and with the belief that she wasn’t good enough. Since the interaction with her family member, she thought something was wrong with her, and the same feeling of anxiousness had stuck with her every day. The same belief and feeling was compounded with bullying in primary school and then in high school along with various events in life. The energy had built and built to the point where at age 39, it was debilitating. In a hypnotic state, we healed and released the event; washing the healing all the way to the present day and beyond. Jade was released from her anxiety at long last. Hypnosis is widely misunderstood but there is nothing mysterious about what I do. By the end of the year, I found myself with 12 vacant rentals and again defied what I was told was impossible when I renovated and flipped 72 properties to catch up with my vacancies and was awarded, “Renovator of the Year”. When I was 34, we bought a cafe ☕️ thinking it was going to be our key to freedom (I'm now 43). We had just moved back to Perth from Melbourne where we had fallen in love with the whole coffee scene... so the idea of working in the Perth CBD again for someone else was just not appealing. We sold everything to buy it, including our home . But we thought this was it... this was our family legacy and our chance to set ourselves up to live a good life. About 12 months later ⏳ ... after literally not having a single day off from the never-ending 12-15 hour days that the cafe bestowed upon us ... and after coming off the back of a huge breakfast catering order (2am start, 4pm finish) I went home (as per usual). When I got home, I went to the bathroom (as I always did), I got into the shower, turned on the water... and began to let the day float away... But this time, I had a really weird, worrying, dizzy like feeling wash over me Next thing... I wake up on the floor in a heap, feeling confused, nauseous, anxious and freaking out about what was happening I had pretty much blacked out and collapsed on the floor in my shower ... So much for purchasing our key to freedom I screamed out for my wife in a massive panic yelling at her to call for an ambulance . She came rushing in (Baywatch style ) and did everything she could to calm me down. Eventually taking me to the bedroom, calming me down and getting me to rest . All I remember was that this was it... this was my body giving me the warning sign that I was about to have a heart attack or stroke... or worse Having slept for about 12 hours ⏰, after the blackout, I woke up to my 5am alarm (It was a Saturday) to get ready to go and open the cafe ☕️ (7am open time). #businessasusual I immediately felt dizzy, unusual and had that anxiety and nervousness in my stomach that I felt the day before. I sat up in bed, took a few calming breaths, and then stood up... ...and before I could blink, I fell like a sack of spuds to the ground. Something was definitely not right! Once again, in a panic-filled rant fuelled by my own uncertainty of the situation , I asked, sorry, demanded my wife take me to the hospital . I was scared something horrible was coming, and I wasn't taking any more chances, and. So, she did! (Thank goodness for our amazing cafe staff who all answered their phones that morning and rushed in to open the cafe... so grateful! ) Long story short, I explained what had happened to me to the triage nurse ‍⚕️, and within minutes I was being carted out on a bed while having those sticky patches placed all over me . They hooked me up to all of "those" machines... took blood ... asked for urine... asked a lot of questions, and proceeded to troubleshoot my "condition". Six hours later ⏰, the diagnosis came through via the doctor. It wasn't cancer... it wasn't a heart attack or a stroke... and it wasn't me losing my mind . It was my body telling me that I was entirely and un-equivocally exhausted! Having worked over 12 months, 12-15 hours a day, and in particular that week with as little as 2 hours sleep per night... and my body had shut down! And the medication I was instructed to take was resting ! I arrived back home from Royal Perth Hospital at around 2pm, had a shower and went to bed. I woke up at 4pm on Sunday Yep... I slept for 26 hours straight. (Which honestly, I never thought was possible.) I got up, had some dinner , and went back to bed again at 6pm, waking up at 8am the following Monday morning after 14 more hours of sleep . So... what is my point here! Well... As a result of this event, my wife and I changed everything! It was the "wake-up" call we needed to kick our butts into gear, grow our cafe business, and work towards seeking a return for our investment. Dear Reader: yes, the Law Of Attraction works! I used to take the Delhi Metro, travel to work everyday for 1.5 hours (each side), and then work for 12-13 hours/day in the office… ...initially, my job was exciting, but then I grew tired of the same monotonous routine, day after day, month after month, year after year! And, it got worse when I opened Social Media- when I used see how much fun people had in their lives. People were growing, financially, earning more, traveling, spending quality time with friends & family, simply living a life of their dreams! And here I was, slogging 6 days a week, “recovering” on Sunday, and then, getting ready to fight the next 6 days. I didn’t get paid well too, I remember how much I had to think, before buying a new Rs 15K phone for myself- forget giving money to family. Deep down inside, I knew I deserved more. And I really wanted to do something about it... ...I knew about the Law of Attraction, but my experience with it wasn’t really good. I practiced, and observed my results. I failed and learned, I did experiments, I “re-wired” my brain, I became focused and disciplined with it. Dear Reader: yes, the Law Of Attraction works! I used to take the Delhi Metro, travel to work everyday for 1.5 hours (each side), and then work for 12-13 hours/day in the office… ...initially, my job was exciting, but then I grew tired of the same monotonous routine, day after day, month after month, year after year! And, it got worse when I opened Social Media- when I used see how much fun people had in their lives. People were growing, financially, earning more, traveling, spending quality time with friends & family, simply living a life of their dreams! And here I was, slogging 6 days a week, “recovering” on Sunday, and then, getting ready to fight the next 6 days. I didn’t get paid well too, I remember how much I had to think, before buying a new Rs 15K phone for myself- forget giving money to family. Deep down inside, I knew I deserved more. And I really wanted to do something about it... ...I knew about the Law of Attraction, but my experience with it wasn’t really good. I didn’t have a “perfect manifestation story”, like millions of them which we read about online. I read all the positive thinking books by big & famous LOA gurus, but none of the “gyaan” worked for me. I used to VISUALISE my “dreams”, think about my desires, look at my dream board, only to find out that my mind was almost laughing at me, saying- “Haha, you’re never getting those things, this LOA thing is pure nonsense”. I tried to use affirmations, and it was irritating, because my subconscious never really accepted anything! In fact, all this overthinking, and TRYING TOO HARD… ...made me stressed out, and caused anxiety, and eventually PANIC ATTACKs! I used to wake up, 2AM in the morning, with my heart pumping, and a horrible feeling in my chest, as if my heart is about to EXPLODE, with a massive heart attack! While all this was happening, I heard some motivational guru say- “in order for you to grow, a part of you has to DIE”. And, the part of me which had to die was- the Vivek who gives up. The Vivek who settles for average. The Vivek who’s OKAY with life pushing him around…. ...and, I decided to kill this part. I got intense, this time, with Law Of Attraction. I practiced, and observed my results. I failed and learned, I did experiments, I “re-wired” my brain, I became focused and disciplined with it. I realised that I had been practicing the Law Of Attraction ALL WRONG! And I simply missed out a few “basic” and simple things, which caused me failure with Law of Attraction in the past. Upon further research, I found out that MOST PEOPLE miss out on this “missing key”, which makes the Law Of Attraction work. And, I corrected it immediately... ...And FINALLY, something began to work for me! Within MONTHs, I was able to go from my job, working 13-14 hours a day, to starting my business, earning 3 times more money every month, and working less than 3-4 hours/day. Happiness had come back, I started waking up with a smile, joy & wonder, ready to ATTACK the day! The Law Of Attraction WORKS, if YOU work it properly. For years I struggled with panic attacks and anxiety. Every time I had a panic attack I felt like I was dying or going crazy. I felt depersonalization and weird physical symptoms like tingling skin. Some days it felt like I was living in a hazy dream world. I was constantly tired and couldn’t think straight. Then 4 years ago, on March 15th, 2016, I had enough. I was completely fed up with anxiety and panic attacks. I just wanted to feel normal again. That was the day I decided that if I had another panic attack, I was not gonna fight it. I was gonna test it, stand up to it, and not run anymore. On that day I did have another panic attack, but instead of getting scared, I got angry. I got so furious that I didn’t care what would happen. I just remember thinking, “alright panic, give me all you got.” It was like I was finally standing up to my bully. And just like that....it was gone. No more panic. The exact moment that I completely stopped resisting, it was finally gone. Since then I have had many more panic attacks. But each time, I’ve been able to stop them, to calm them down, or easily get through them. Today, I’m happy to say panic attacks are no longer an issue because even if I do have a panic attack, I no longer worry about it. It doesn’t mess up my whole day. It’s only a minute of focus and attention, and then poof, gone. To anyone reading this and currently struggling with panic attacks, I really do understand how challenging and terrifying it feels. I have a lot of empathy for anyone going through this. That’s why I want to help in any way that I can. Look, I’m not a doctor or therapist, but I am someone who has overcome panic attacks. I don't like him since he replaced my dad. Seeing alpha Jace smiling to other pack members kind of hurts since he never did that to me. I was about to leave the office feeling relieved that I didn't meet him and I was finally able to take Hazel my wolf for a run. We both needed to get some fresh air. But my relief didn't last long since alpha Jace came in. The moment he saw me the smile on his lips turned into a scowl. I already started feeling terrible the moment I saw his figure so I bowed to him and tried to leave, the keyword "tried". The moment I passed by him he pulled me to him holding my hand roughly. "Where are you going? I don't remember telling you to move." His voice was poisonous. "I already finished my chores so I'm leaving alpha." You are probably thinking why would my alpha treat me this way if he's so loved by our pack. Well, it's very complicated but I'll explain. My father and alpha Jace were like brothers, or so I thought. Six years ago, our pack, the full moon pack, was attacked by rogues. They were so strong, stronger than our pack warriors. They destroyed everything that was in their way. We lost more than half of our members including my mom and our Luna. We were more than devastated. Many went through the pain of losing their mates including my Dad and Alpha Jace. Both having lost their significant ones were unable to even function properly for weeks. Our situation was miserable. It took us more than a year to get on our feet but we barely held on. We were under constant threat. Four years after the attack, Alpha Jace decided to take a chosen mate. It was a treaty between our pack and the Scarlet Moon pack, the strongest pack in the country. Their alpha is now said to be the cruellest Alpha ever, Alpha Noah Black. The new Luna is his aunt actually, the one who raised him they said. They say she never found her mate until she met my father. It turns out he was her mate, so the treaty was not going to happen. But she somehow convinced her nephew to keep it for the sake of my father. However, our alpha refused. He was outraged and blinded by anger. He accused my father of stealing his mate and exiled him, so he was taken in by the Scarlet Moon pack and became one of them. None of the other pack members know about this. Alpha Jace told them that he was happy for Klaus (dad) and even though he is no longer one of us, he'll always remain like a brother to him. He told me the truth though. He even refused to let me go with my dad or even visit him. He kept saying all sort of things. And of course made me his "personal assistant". I had to clean his room and office, wash his clothes, do some of his paperwork and of course, hear him saying mean things to me without saying anything. He made me feel inferior to everyone even though on the surface he treated me like a daughter. It was painful. I easily became alone and isolated. I felt like everyone will diss me if I got closer to them. I had one friend, only she could relieve my anxiety. Miley was the only one I could talk to beside Hazel. She didn't know the truth though. She didn't know that her uncle blames me and my father about losing his second chance to happiness. I was so spaced out I didn't hear a word of what alpha Jace was saying. I only came back to reality
