Despite the Soviet Union's withdrawal of its promise to provide air support, on October 19, 1950, the first units of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army crossed the Yalu River into Korea. Mao Zedong famously dismissed reactionaries as "paper tigers." He said, "The outcome of a war is decided by the people, not by one or two new types of weapon." People throughout China donated money and supplies to support the effort to resist U.S. aggression and aid the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. This part of CGTN's documentary "Enemy on the doorstep: China's involvement in the Korean War" shows the whole country's efforts in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. #KoreanWar1950 #unforgottenwar

Did you catch our live-stream of this morning's press briefing by MOFA Minister Joseph Wu and US Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar? It may have been brief, but it sure packed a punch, with Minister Wu thanking Secretary Azar for this timely visit and for #US recognition of how #Taiwan’s democratic and transparent model has seen success in containing the #COVID19 pandemic. He also drew attention to #Taiwan’s efforts to help the international community in their time of need, despite constant pressure from China. Secretary Azar pointed to the free press in Taiwan as “a vibrant and concrete example of the shared democratic, open, transparent values that Taiwan represents.” As well as praising the #TaiwanModel of #PandemicPrevention as a lesson for the world, he thanked Taiwan for our provision of aid to the international community, particularly Pacific nations. He concluded stating that he will continue to advocate for Taiwan’s contributions to the world on health. #RealFriends #RealProgress #SDG3 #Health #Wellbeing #TaiwanCanHelp #TaiwanIsHelping #DiseasesKnowNoBorders #HealthBeforePolitics #SharedValues

WE ARE CHINA
China amazes the world with numerous engineering marvels, from underground tunnels, to bridges, and skyscrapers. It has become a guiding architect in creating continent connecting infrastructure, and literally bridging ravines and bays. And the nation’s highway and high-speed rail networks and metro in cities are expanding at an unprecedented speed. Through its industrial capacity, and sheer developmental will, China is attempting to reforge the silk roads of old, interconnecting Eurasia, and engineering the foundations for a community of shared future for mankind. But how does the country make that happen? Because it has hard working people, very capable and reliable construction companies, and of course, high-end equipment to aid its many builders. In a bid to jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative, Chinese companies and their state-of-the-art equipment are now in Moscow, Russia. Since June 2018, four tunnel-boring machines developed by China Railway Construction Corp., have started tunneling at the southwest section of the Third Interchange Circuit metro project in Moscow.

#Breaking News __Humanitarian Appeal for the people of Sudan, Eritrea and Zimbabwe. As many of you on this platform know, I have been at the forefront, for several weeks, in asking for Debt Relief and Economic Impact Stimulus, on behalf of the African continent. In making these appeals, those of us who have called for these measures have used as our benchmarking, those measures that have been taken in the US, Europe, Asia and China. So far I’m pleased that there has been growing support for these measures. At the last World Bank, IMF, and G20 meetings, many African countries secured debt relief by way of Standstills on interest payments which are valued at over $22bn. More than half that money has been disbursed already to countries in Africa, as it was sitting in “debt service accounts”. These African countries can now urgently buy medical equipment, ventilators, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to keep health workers safe. They can also train and pay doctors and nurses. Three countries were conspicuous in their omission from any form of relief: Zimbabwe, Eritrea and Sudan. This is because they have sanctions. I don’t want to get into the issues around how and why there are sanctions. Everyone knows that I personally had to flee my country, Zimbabwe, because of persecution, 20 years ago. I have not been back since. I’m not a politician, just an entrepreneur working day and night to create wealth and jobs. I have not spoken to anyone in the governments of these countries, including that of Zimbabwe, with respect to this or any other matter. For the avoidance of doubt, this is not an appeal for lifting of sanctions on any of these countries. If you know one thing about me by now, it is that I’m not and have never been anyone’s messenger. People also know that my wife and I (through our small family foundation) continue to do everything we can to try and help the people of Zimbabwe, including making many preparations to help prepare for the catastrophic impact of this pandemic. This is what we have done on every major crisis to befall the country over the last 20 years, including droughts, bus disasters, Cyclone Idai, two Cholera outbreaks, and education for over 250,000 orphans many of whom lost parents because of HIV/AIDs. Alas, we are just private citizens, and our small efforts are just not enough. This particular crisis is just too big. We need help. We are deeply concerned about the potential loss of life, if international aid does not come quickly, especially to address the needs of this pandemic. I would like to respectfully make a suggestion. Here is my big idea: # Creation of Special Purpose Trust Vehicles, under the leadership of independent people, including global humanitarians. I would like to appeal to the World Bank, IMF, and other multilateral institutions, to create humanitarian Trusts for each country, which are managed by third parties, along the lines of the Global Fund. I have consulted widely with experts, and many told me of numerous precedents, at the level of UN, IMF, World Bank, the EU, or even the US government itself. The more countries that can contribute, even from China and our African brothers, the more credible it would be, as global compassion towards the peoples of these very poor nations. I would urge them to consider seeding the Trusts with at least $500m, and inviting others including private philanthropy to participate. In the case of Zimbabwe, I will personally contribute in a Trust, and encourage friends and partners to do the same. The money would be used to provide urgently required medical supplies, training and remuneration for healthcare workers. It can also provide urgently needed repairs to hospitals and rural clinics across the country. This is a humanitarian appeal. Please help Sudan, Eritrea and Zimbabwe’s people. In God’s name please help these nations, before it is too late. Strive Masiyiwa End.

POTUS IS RIGHT - - Discovering Priorities – Human Health Vs Household Economy Worst Recession in Sight since Great Depression of 1929 - - A reality in the days ahead of 2020 Would China, and aid-recipient nations survive it? A count-down! By: Gholam Mujtaba, M.S., M.D., Ed.D., FRSPH, FICPS Professor of Pharmacology & Scholar in Medical Education The crash of the Wall Street in the year 1929, famously known as the Great Crash, was a major stock market setback that occurred in 1929. It started in September and ended up late in October. Is 2020, a repeat of 1929? At the economic front, yes; but on others no. Reopening of the global economy requires threat of Covid-19 in terms of mortality rate, while lockdown risks sustaining the financial constraints with job losses, furloughs and daily wage earners. PERILS IN POLICY PLANNING The earnings to feed bread and butter, and the supply-demand balance of daily commodities including life saving drugs remain at risk due to lockdown of production units. What can be foreseen in this lockdown is a fundamental question before policy planning? PROFESSIONAL JUDGMENTS IN HEALTHCARE To me, no matter how many protective measures are taken through social distancing or lockdowns, these non-pharmaceutical interventions hardly helps decline in morbidity rate. The morbidity rate increases through mismanagement in drug regimen. The pharmaceutical intervention requires reevaluation. Hydroxychloroquine in conjunction to azithromycin has produced beneficial effects in clinical practice, though it requires to be monitored to cardiac, diabetic and asthmatic patients. Does that prohibit its use in patients without pre-existing conditions? The mortality rate can be controlled in this grey area of treatment regimen. As a Clinical Pharmacologist, I must say that beneficial effects surpass the inimical effects in President Trump’s suggestion on the use of hydroxychloroquine with azithromycin. Cardiac, diabetic and asthmatic patients require close monitoring and clinical judgments before dosage design. SHOULD LOCKDOWN CONTINUE? I present a case where lockdown is not the answer based on social impacts in our societies. Let us face a reality and deal the threat with the tools available to us. I do not see a decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases in lockdowns. The virus will get exposed to most of us in the way it travels across the streets. There is no real protection including PPE and masks. The antibodies, the immunoglobulins present in our bodies produce response to a foreign invasion, thus producing an immune response. I have seen the developing antibodies Ig responses to those exposed to COVID-19 in the plasma serum tests. CONCLUSION: Enough social distancing has been done. We succeeded in plunging mortality rate, but the economic and social impact has been monumental. There has to be a balance between the two, and those unaware of medical sciences should avoid expertise opinion on the subject. Non-pharmaceutical interventions do NOT supplant pharmaceutical interventions in human pathology.

Resuming Schools after the completion of required number of random tests for COVID 19. - V Janagan Organizing Secratary- Democratic People Front It was indeed disturbing that we only owned 350 COVID 19 test equipments that can aid to test for the Corona virus. But now China offered us 40,000 more test tools in order to support us during this brutal pandemic, and as of now we have received around 20,000 so far. Therefore, inspections should be carried out immediately with the relevant equipments in the identified districts throughout the country. If we find positive indicators through those tests, it is best to order to reopen schools. Unaware of this, the announcement of the government opening schools on May 11th has created unnecessary doubts and confusion among vulnerable parents. It is everyone's wish and desire that our country should be free from this deadly disease. But the announcement that has been made without the necessary tests been completed, alarms the crisis of school children being used for political agenda.
