#Breaking News __Humanitarian Appeal for the people of Sudan, Eritrea and Zimbabwe. As many of you on this platform know, I have been at the forefront, for several weeks, in asking for Debt Relief and Economic Impact Stimulus, on behalf of the African continent. In making these appeals, those of us who have called for these measures have used as our benchmarking, those measures that have been taken in the US, Europe, Asia and China. So far I’m pleased that there has been growing support for these measures. At the last World Bank, IMF, and G20 meetings, many African countries secured debt relief by way of Standstills on interest payments which are valued at over $22bn. More than half that money has been disbursed already to countries in Africa, as it was sitting in “debt service accounts”. These African countries can now urgently buy medical equipment, ventilators, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to keep health workers safe. They can also train and pay doctors and nurses. Three countries were conspicuous in their omission from any form of relief: Zimbabwe, Eritrea and Sudan. This is because they have sanctions. I don’t want to get into the issues around how and why there are sanctions. Everyone knows that I personally had to flee my country, Zimbabwe, because of persecution, 20 years ago. I have not been back since. I’m not a politician, just an entrepreneur working day and night to create wealth and jobs. I have not spoken to anyone in the governments of these countries, including that of Zimbabwe, with respect to this or any other matter. For the avoidance of doubt, this is not an appeal for lifting of sanctions on any of these countries. If you know one thing about me by now, it is that I’m not and have never been anyone’s messenger. People also know that my wife and I (through our small family foundation) continue to do everything we can to try and help the people of Zimbabwe, including making many preparations to help prepare for the catastrophic impact of this pandemic. This is what we have done on every major crisis to befall the country over the last 20 years, including droughts, bus disasters, Cyclone Idai, two Cholera outbreaks, and education for over 250,000 orphans many of whom lost parents because of HIV/AIDs. Alas, we are just private citizens, and our small efforts are just not enough. This particular crisis is just too big. We need help. We are deeply concerned about the potential loss of life, if international aid does not come quickly, especially to address the needs of this pandemic. I would like to respectfully make a suggestion. Here is my big idea: # Creation of Special Purpose Trust Vehicles, under the leadership of independent people, including global humanitarians. I would like to appeal to the World Bank, IMF, and other multilateral institutions, to create humanitarian Trusts for each country, which are managed by third parties, along the lines of the Global Fund. I have consulted widely with experts, and many told me of numerous precedents, at the level of UN, IMF, World Bank, the EU, or even the US government itself. The more countries that can contribute, even from China and our African brothers, the more credible it would be, as global compassion towards the peoples of these very poor nations. I would urge them to consider seeding the Trusts with at least $500m, and inviting others including private philanthropy to participate. In the case of Zimbabwe, I will personally contribute in a Trust, and encourage friends and partners to do the same. The money would be used to provide urgently required medical supplies, training and remuneration for healthcare workers. It can also provide urgently needed repairs to hospitals and rural clinics across the country. This is a humanitarian appeal. Please help Sudan, Eritrea and Zimbabwe’s people. ABSTRACT: EVOLUTION OF COVID19 IN 16 COUNTRIES AND SCENARIOS FOR BRAZIL Since the end of 2019, the world has become aware of a new virus that has emerged in China, which in February 2020 was called by the World Health Organization (WHO, 2019) as Coronavirus disease (COVID19). Due to its fast transmission, at 18:32 (GMT) on March 29, 2020, the world has officially accounted for about 710,950 new confirmed cases with 33,553 deaths and 150,734 recovered cases (Worldometers, 2020). The pandemic has become the newest challenge for several nations, especially the USA, Italy, China, Spain, Germany, Iran, for being the most affected, and since Brazil is a continental country with disabilities in its Unified Health System, it could be in the next two months among the five most affected. Thus, the main objective of the research is analyze the evolution of new cases of COVID19 in 16 countries to present short-term scenarios and recommendations for Brazil to face the pandemic. The research is applied, as its results and recommendations can be applied with adaptation by government authorities, business managers and citizens. The research is descriptive, with a qualitative and quantitative approach, based on bibliographic and documentary research, involving the study of articles, reports, manuals and other technical documents related to the subject. For the creation of scenarios, data collection focused on the number of new cases registered in 16 countries, including Brazil, as well as in the development of an approach using metaphorical analysis of the Board, the Inverted Pyramid and Papyri. The main conclusion is that even though no country is prepared to face epidemics and pandemics (NTI, JHU and EIU, 2019), among the 16 countries investigated, Thailand, Finland, Australia, South Korea, Denmark and Sweden are benchmarks that Brazil could study in order not to repeat the scenarios of China, USA, Italy and Spain. The only protection in those situations is mutual participation of facemask wearing. This will not be over until everyone is wearing a facemask. Period. Darryl has the ability to get a non medical grade surgical face mask for every worker in Columbus within days, and all of Ohio within about a week. The only things that are currently preventing this is financing on the purchasing side and cooperation on the distribution side. The only reason the CDC was not recommending from the beginning was a perceived shortage of Non medical grade surgical masks as opposed to the actual shortage of N95 masks. The CDC has since changed their opinion, and as of Friday now recommending the use of face masks. If any hospital networks are having trouble sourcing non medical grade surgical masks, they should contact me immediately. No one should be going in public without ANY kind of protection, including scarves, home made masks, etc. You are putting others at risk when you are not wearing protection because you can be infected, and contagious with absolutely no symptoms for many days. The CDC also admitted that they were not initially aware of the number of infections that were occurring from asymptomatic transmitters. Darryl has already used considerable personal funds to get a working pipeline that is ready to supply all of Columbus workers immediately. PLEASE READ THIS. @ my theory on why govt testing is moving at such a slow pace: Imagine if government had started massive widespread and rigorous testing from day one (March 18th 2020), and within a day they had tested 1000 people, or even 5000 people—and the result was that 100, 200, 300...500+ people were infected with coronavirus? Would that not show a massive rate of infection in Mauritius? It would (and I suspect that is already the case since much before March 18th, 2020). And what would that mean? That would literally mean that it would be clear that all of the infections were govt’s fault and due to their negligence. They would not be able blame the population, at all, in this case for the spread of the coronavirus. They would not be able to come on tv and say it is spreading because of our actions and our indiscipline, as they are doing now. No, if we had tested 1000-3000 people in the first 2-3 days and the results had been hundreds of positive tests, then it would be clear that is was all govts fault 100%. Which it is anyways. But this would make it much much clearer. And to what extent. However, by only testing 50 people per day for the first week and then slowly testing more per day until now 2 weeks later we are testing 120 a day (which is still nothing), the government was able to start laying blame on population for the spread of the virus. WHICH IS COMPLETELY FALSE. They did a confusing lockdown that was set up to fail: supermarkets open, tabagie open, all public transport fully functioning. Then they came back and did a instantaneous full lockdown not giving people the time to buy food: so it is normal for people to have to disobey the lockdown: people have to eat. This strategy then enables them to stagger the testing over a few weeks and start to lay blame on unruly citizens rather than them and their complete and utter failure to protect the us, the people of Mauritius. This may be one reason why we are not being given victims names, and their locations/movements—because then it would be possible to easily track them and prove this theory. Worse still: by engaging in this tactic and this behavior/cover-up, the Govt is putting us all at even greater risk. Because WHO and other countries winning against coronavirus advocate for massive widespread testing immediately, which is exactly what our government is NOT doing. They did NOT want massive testing early bc this would prove how negligent they have been in their duty to protect us. Have you noticed that it is ONLY after the second week that the govt has reached out to private clinics and hospitals to help with testing? Why not immediately from day one, as we all know massive widespread testing is the NUMBER ONE TOOL for fighting coronavirus? The govt has been in no rush to do this. None at all. They never contacted any foreign govt to come help us test quickly and massively, even though other countries, like Iraq, did just this. Iraq solicited China immediately to help with their testing and was able to increase their testing within a week from 100/day to 1200/day. Why has our Govt not done that, even to this very day, two weeks later? Why? Simple: bc they did not want that, as it would shine a bright light on their negligence. And prove unequivocally that this is all their fault. Please remember that in South Korea they have never had a lockdown, and they dont blame their citizens for spreading the virus. They have contained the outbreak through massive testing, identifying, and isolating people alone. And South Koreas strategy has for its cornerstone: massive widespread testing at the very onset from day one. Precisely what Mauritian Govt has NOT done. Still today. Think about it? Why, if that is what you need to do to contain outbreak, did government only deploy TWO TEAMS for the whole country to do “contact tracing” during the first week? Two teams? 6-8 people?
